It is the first Friday of the month again, and that means only one thing to me, free museum day! So what would have otherwise been a pretty relaxed day, turned into a lovely afternoon date with my husband. Today’s sweet spot, The Natural History Museum, hosted what felt like half of Helsinki’s youth, and the few brave enough to face the crowd. Despite a surprising surplus in attendance, we embraced the crowd and explored the beautiful building filled with bones and creatures.
To follow up our education experience, it was due time for a healthy dose of sugar. Another tradition in our home is to visit the infamous local bakery in our neighborhood. Establish in 1914, it is the original location and recently renovated bakery with the best buns in town! Although there are other locations, this one takes the cake!
As for our date, it may have been on the more casual side of things, but sometimes a simple city stroll with a small bite to eat can be enough to reconnect with the one you love. And to be honest, when most days feel like retirement at 25, it is nice to add some variety in the day to day life.
Although I am hopeful for the future and trust my days will become more lively as I continue to adjust to life abroad. It will be the little impromptu dates and afternoon strolls that make my heart burst with love.
